Healthy Living Advice
Small changes add up, but knowing where to start is often the hardest part. Our pharmacists offer free, practical healthy living advice covering everything from diet and activity to smoking, alcohol, and blood pressure, without needing a GP appointment first.
What This Service Actually Covers
Healthy living advice isn’t one fixed conversation, it flexes around what you’re trying to change. That might mean working out a realistic way to move more during the week, understanding what’s actually in your diet, cutting back on alcohol, or getting a straightforward read on your blood pressure and what the numbers mean for you.
Who Tends to Use This Service
People come to us at very different stages, some have just been told by a GP to “watch their weight” and want a clearer plan, others are already fairly active but want to fine-tune their diet, and some simply want an honest, no-pressure conversation about a habit they’d like to change. There’s no threshold you need to meet to ask for help.
What Happens During Your Visit
You’ll sit down with a pharmacist for a relaxed conversation about your current habits and what you’re hoping to change. Depending on what you need, this might include a quick blood pressure check or simple measurements, followed by practical, achievable suggestions rather than a generic leaflet.
Support for Long-Term Habits
Some changes take longer than a single conversation. If you’re working on quitting smoking, cutting down on alcohol, or managing your weight over several months, we can check in with you regularly and adjust the approach as you go, rather than leaving you to figure it out alone after one visit.
When You Might Need to See a GP Instead
Healthy living advice is about prevention and everyday habits, not diagnosis or treatment. If something you mention suggests an underlying condition worth investigating, we’ll say so plainly and point you toward your GP rather than trying to manage it ourselves.
Getting Started
There’s no referral needed for this one, just get in touch or book a time that suits you and we’ll take it from there.
